Meet the Maker

Hello and welcome, my name is Jennifer and I am the creator, designer, manager, administrator and everything else behind Bits & Bobs 4 Bubs.

I live in sunny but very dry Jimboomba, Queensland with my wonderful husband, 3 crazy munchkins and 2 furry babies.

I just love to sew and was taught by my mother back when I was around 8 years of age.  I still have the sewing machine that I learnt to sew on and YES it still works.  It’s a manual Alfa sewing machine and my mother brought it all the way from Scotland to Australia.   I think the very first thing I made was a scrunchie and some bows to wear in my hair which is crazy as scrunchies are no back in fashion.

Bits & Bobs 4 Bubs came about after I fell pregnant with my 3rd baby and as we had given away most of our baby stuff, I began to think of what I needed and what I didn’t have when my girls were babies.

The first item I created was a nappy wallet, it was so handy and it was my husband’s favorite as he knew that everything he needed for nappy changes were in there especially if we had to make a mad dash to do the kindy/school runs.

Next came a pram liner, trolley covers, baby trolley capsule liners and pram liners.  And as the old story goes, friends and family members started asking if I could make them for their babies and as baby shower gifts.

So now that I was a stay at home mum for longer I started to find out from fellow mums about blogging and how they shop on Facebook and so after a lot of researching I created Bits & Bobs 4 Bubs. From there I began to sell on Made It and after a couple of years progressed to Etsy.  Now the big step is to create my very own online store.

Our dinner table began as my first sewing area and then progressed to our garage which in winter was absolutely freezing and in summer I had to have the garage door opened all the way up to let the breeze in.  Three years ago we finally made the decision to convert the garage into a study/sewing studio.

I love to design and create items that make mums and dads lives a little bit easier when they are out and about and I have also created a gift set with a reusable fabric basket. There are also some new reusable metal/bamboo straw sets and reusable fabric sandwich and snack bags in store. I try to use as much as fabric as possible with little wastage.

So welcome to Bits & Bobs 4 Bubs so happy that you found me and I hope that you love what you find.

I am a stay at home mother of 2 beautiful girls and 1 handsome little man. I first started my blog www.eatcraftsow.blogspot.com as a place that I could share my love of sewing, anything crafty, cooking and working in my vegetable garden. I have always enjoyed making handmade gifts for family and friends and just before Christmas 2010 I started drafting designs for items that I wanted to make for myself for when my little man came into the world. With a little bit of convincing from my family and friends I decided to make and sell these items.
